Enable quiescing on Oracle LinuxVM with Oracle BD?

Hello,

Please your comments about this issue, we have a VM with Oracle Linux 7.9 and BD Oracle 12c R2.

We execute de quiesced backup and the BD is affected in its transaccionality.

What is the best practice in this case? We have vmtools installed

With quiescence disabled, the backup does not cause any problems on the DB, but we assume that the backup is not consistent at the file system level, it is only consistent with failures, and additional is not recommended by Veritas.

Regards!

Whenever I configure Oracle for customers, I use VMware policy to take backup of VM (data disk are excluded) and create another policy to take backup of oracle policy).
are you only taking backup of VM or you are taking any oracle backup separately as well.

Hello Kiyan,

At this moment only the whole VM through a VMware Policy, without disk exclusions and without quiescing.

We are planning the integration with Oracle DB.

We will take your recommendation and exclude data disks (generally u01, u02, etc) and enable quiescing.

We will comment the results.

Thank you

Regards!

since you are planning to integrate the oracle, read the below article from VMware :
