There have been a number of things happen recently in the NetBackup world, here is a summary of some of them.
NetBackup 7.7
NetBackup 7.7 was released on 7th July and includes significant updates to:
- VMware vSphere Support
- MS Hyper-V Intelligent Policies including SCVMM Plug-In
- MS SQL Server Intelligent Policies
- Significantly Improved Amazon S3 performance
- NetApp cDOT Support for NDMP and Replication Director
- Enhanced Security and Auditing

Regarding downloads, NetBackup 7.7 is a full media release (for both new installations and upgrades) so needs to be downloaded via the Symantec Licensing Portal. You will need a valid portal login,
Finally there is no Appliance Release for NetBackup 7.7 yet; this is expected to be available in November.
NetBackup Scotland User Group
There is a newly formed Scotland NetBackup User Group, contact Andy Greig if you would like more information on this.
NetBackup Product Management Visits
We are finalizing details of NetBackup senior Product Management Visits to the UK. We are hoping to run sessions during w/b 20 October 2015 which should allow direct input to our planning and development process, product update and Q&A. Sessions are likely to be in Reading and Edinburgh, please let me know if you are interested in attending.
