Veritas is excited to share the fiscal year 2021 Corporate Responsibility Progress Report, available to download at Veritas.com/Corporate-Responsibility. "This report provides an update on our progress, with a focus on supply chain," shares Greg Hughs, CEO of Veritas, in the report's opening message. "This work is increasingly important to our customers and is the right thing to do for our community. We know we still have much work to do and welcome your feedback about our progress and the corporate responsibility opportunities ahead of us."

I wanted to share with you a few highlights from the report, including the accomplishments of the Supply Chain team.

  • In FY2021, Veritas submitted the company's reduction targets and they were approved by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
  • The Veritas greenhouse gas emissions went down 27% in FY2021 from FY2020 for the company's entire value chain (Scope 1, 2, and 3).
    • Business travel emissions fell by 98% in FY2021 due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
    • Product use (appliances)‒related emissions decreased by 2% in FY2021 from FY2020 levels
    • Purchased Goods & Services emissions fell by 38% in FY2021 from FY2020 levels
    • 26% of top suppliers by spend set science-based targets in FY2021
    • Emissions related to our appliance's deliveries were reduced by 16% per shipment and 25% in KM's traveled per shipment
  • Circular economy: In FY21 Veritas retrieved hundreds of servers and storage units being removed from a multitude of sites. Many of these were returned and utilized internally for lab and test units, while a significant portion was sent for recycling, or for breakdown and resale. As a result,
    • Veritas sent 57 tons of material to our vendor which after processing resold 61 percent  of this material
    • The resale of these goods also eliminated the manufacture of new units and avoided:
      • 8 million Kgs of Co2 emissions
      • 4 billion litres of water
      • 52 million tons of earth not mined
    • Ultimately, Veritas ensured that none of the 57 tons of material ended up in landfills.
  • In FY21 Veritas maintained its Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Regular Member compliance status. The RBA is the world's largest industry coalition dedicated to corporate social responsibility in global supply chains. RBA members commit and are held accountable to a common Code of Conduct and utilize a range of RBA training and assessment tools to support continual improvement in the social, environmental, and ethical responsibility of their supply chains.
  • Veritas engaged 100% of suppliers to collect smelter data for our conflict minerals program.
  • 82% of all smelters and refiners reported in the Veritas supply chain were designated as Active or Conformant to RMAP
  • 90% of active suppliers submitted Conflict Minerals Report Templates

Let's continue our positive impact together.
