Announcing NetBackup 7.7.2 and NetBackup Appliance 2.7.2
Veritas NetBackup 7.7.2 and NetBackup Appliance 2.7.2 releases to General Availability (GA) on February 1, 2016.
NetBackup 7.7.2 reflects our continued efforts to rapidly align and respond to our customers’ needs with quarterly releases to address the proliferations, the inevitable bug fixes, and feature enhancements requested by our customers. The rapid cadence and timely response to our customers’ requirements has earned solid, positive feedback as they become more agile by leveraging the NetBackup Converged Platform to simplify management and maintain performance of their expanding enterprise data protection needs.
In this release NetBackup continues to reduce the cost and complexity of enterprise data protection through innovative and differentiating solutions. Enhancing the management of enterprise data protection across a range of workloads through efficient through automation, self-service operations, database performance, and support for both public and hybrid cloud configurations.

Faster Oracle performance with Oracle multi-stream restore.
NetBackup Copilot for Oracle, introduced in NetBackup 7.7.1, gave the Oracle DBA a revolutionary new way to protect and manage Oracle databases. NetBackup 7.7.2 accelerates Oracle recovery by letting you specify the number of simultaneous proxy restore streams complementing the functionality of NetBackup Copilot for Oracle in NetBackup 7.7.1. Failover clustering support for SQL Intelligent Policies.

NetBackup SQL intelligent policies now automate the discovery and protection of SQL instances simplifying the protection of Microsoft SQL Server high-availability cluster environments. Simplified support for Amazon S3 storage classes to achieve better cost savings in the cloud.
Reducing cost and leveraging Cloud and Hybrid Cloud resources continues to be a high priority in the evolution and modernization of enterprise data protection strategies. NetBackup 7.7.2 simplifies and automates the selection of specific Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 Storage Classes including Amazon S3 Standard and Amazon S3 Standard – Infrequent Access (IA). Seamless self-service operations for VMware Files & Folders Restore.
The cost and complexity of managing VMware in Linux environments just got easier. In the past, user requests for file and folder restores had to go through either the VM or Backup Admin causing delays or bottlenecks and consumed valuable resources. Now in Linux / VMware environments, non-admin users can easily browse and restore individual files and folders from a backup of a VMware virtual machine for Linux NetBackup clients.
