Enterprise Vault archived file recovery
Hi all, I'm only getting to know EV through a lab environment, which is intended to replicate a project I'm working on, so please bear with me if I ask something that is obvious to everyone. I have established a single EV server, which is connected to a Fileserver role running on a Windows Failover cluster. The role has 2 nodes, both on Windows Server 2012R2 and after much trouble, I have managed to get archiving to work as intended. All machines in the lab are domain-joined. I have a policy set up to archive all PDF files and log files larger than 2 KB just to see if it will correctly pick up both options - it does. It archives the files as intended and marks them as archive When I try to recover a file from any server or client system, I always get the same error in Event Viewer of the server which is the owner of the role - Error downloading file, event ID 20491. I have tried this from: client PC (Win11), EV server, both failover nodes, tertiary server unmanaged by EV, and from the domain controller. I found the article below saying that I need to add https://<fqdn-of-server>to the Local Intranet zone (https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100018054) and another one very similar to this, saying the same thing. I have done this and it did not solve the issue. I also added it to the Trusted Sites just to test - same result. When I click the link in the Event Viewer, it goes to download and performs a full download of a file which I can open, with one possible issue - it asks for confirmation because the certificate is not trusted. Once I click "Continue", it immediately downloads the file (does NOT ask for password). To combat this, I've added the EV certificate to the local trusted certificates on the Fileserver nodes and now it goes straight to download, but asks for a password. After entering the password, it downloads the file. On the client, domain-joined, machine, if I paste the link from the Event viewer, I also get the sign in interface. This leads me to believe that re-hydrating the file is only permitted to the EV service account after manual login, while other users do not have this privilege. However, I have set up permissions in the Archive so that Everyone and Domain Users has full permissions: Am I missing something else here? What else can be checked to get re-hydration to work normally? To be clear, the goal here is not even to rehydrate the files - it is to move away from WS2012R2 to WS2022, this whole process of building a lab and rehydrating files is just to verify that my upgrade process 2012R2->2016->...2022 - is designed properly :) Thank you to anyone who actually read all of this and especially if you have a suggestion on how to solve the issue!Solved21Views0likes1CommentEV storage expiry - what exactly will be expired?

Hi, Here is my problem: I would like to disable archiving for some ~500 users and delete theirs archives from EV 9.0.2. The problem is that Virtual Vault is still always present in Outlook folder tree and users are able to browse the vault cache. How to remove it for 500 users? Here is what i did (step-by-step): 1. Disable archiving for users from EV console. 2. Synchronize Mailboxes 3. Remove users from the Provisioning group 4. Run Provisioning task 5. Delete archives from EV 6. Uninstall Enterprise Vault add-in from user’s PC The Virtual Vault is always there… Please help!Solved3.5KViews0likes11CommentsMissing PST options in Admin Console
Hi, After upgrading to version 15.1, we noticed that some menu options are missing in the Administration Console. Specifically, the Personal Storage Management section is no longer expandable and only shows the PST Dashboard, with no access to the PST Overview or other related options. Has anyone else encountered this issue, or does anyone have a solution?64Views0likes3CommentsEV 10 server CPU assignment on Virtual Machine

When you run enterprise vault (8.0) and you have a virus that comes in on an email which is not caught prior to archiving how is this typically handled? In other words, can I cleanse the email? Do people remove the email? Is there no worry about the virus? I ask so that if we have a an issue where an infected email is archived that users to do not pull out an infected email when searching/restoring/etc the archive in the future.Solved1.2KViews0likes4CommentsThe file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. I've placed a new 14.2 license file on my EV server and get the event id 4213 stating the products I am licensed for. It also throws a bunch of error 4218's stating: Required license not active. An Enterprise Vault license is required for the following feature but the installed license is not currently active: I cannot find any information about how to even begin to resolve this. I've tried multiple new SLF files and I have been restarting the admin service each time. I need to keep this thing running until I can get it upgraded to a newer version. Any information on here to help me? I've removed all the old ones as well, backed them up to a different directory.VaultIsSupreme3 months agoLevel 254Views0likes2CommentsEnterprisevault no longer accesible for users
Situation Enterprisevault 14.1.0.144 on Windows Server 2019 Local Citrix Xenapp environment with Outlook version 2402 Enterprisevault plugin installed All users migrated to Exchange Online in October 2024 Enterprisevault is only used as an static archive, no new e-mails are being archived since mid-2020. Future plan is to phase it out fully and switch to Exchange Online archiving. If users want to open an archived e-mail (with the archive icon showing) they get an error popup saying the archived item cannot be downloaded. Unknown error 0x8004010F If users open the actual Enterprisevault plugin and search through their save they can see folders and e-mails, but the readpane shows errorcode 0x80004005 and if you double click an e-mail it endlessly askes for the user's AD credentials and whatever you put in it keeps coming back as if the credentials are incorrect. I have a feeling we were supposed to change something in Enterprisevault now or before we moved to Exchange Online, we didn't touch a thing though and I think that's the issue. What can we do to resolve this?SolvedMeilink-IT3 months agoLevel 3223Views0likes8Comments
