Solaris 11.4 support
Is there any intention for Veritas to support Solaris 11.4, which is now GA? I attempted to upgrade from 11.3 to 11.4, and Foundation Suite and InfoScale both have major issues, pirmarily around VXIO. There are clear compatibility issues. Hi, I'm using Infoscale 7.4.1.1300 on RHEL 7.x Tonight, as I was running RHEL7.7 with the latest RHEL7.6 kernel, I decided to upgrade to the RHEL7.7 kernel (the only part of 7.7 which was missing). This had the nasty side effect of making NVMe drives disappear. 1) before upgrade: # modinfo vxio filename: /lib/modules/3.10.0-957.27.2.el7.x86_64/veritas/vxvm/vxio.ko license: VERITAS retpoline: Y supported: external version: 7.4.1.1300 license: Proprietary. https://sort.symantec.com/public/documents/vstore/7.0/linux/productguides/html/infoscale_notes/ch07s01s01s01.htm mentions only RHEL, not CentOS. Fair enough. But I'm just trying to install VxVM on my desktop VM (VMware Workstation 12) before I get access to physical environment, so I'd like to know if CentOS can or cannot be used (although it's not supported). At the moment I get this on CentOS 7.1: [root@vxvm1 ~]# cd infoscale7.0/ [root@vxvm1 infoscale7.0]# ./installer CPI ERROR V-9-0-0 0 No padv object defined for padv CentOS3x8664 for system vxvm1 [root@vxvm1 infoscale7.0]# cat /etc/redhat-release CentOS Linux release 7.2.1511 (Core) These error messages have some room for improvement... What does "padv" mean in the first place? (Actually, I don't want to know - I'd only like to know if it makes sense to troubleshoot this or should I give up on CentOS). For both RHEL and CentOS, the above link gives very precise package versions, but there's mention of kernel version. Can any 7.1 kernel version be used, or is this an omission which will cause problems later? Anyone aware of textual (non-PDF or non-video) install walk through so that I don't have to copy RPM version names from HTML tables and PDF files?Solveddelete10 years agoLevel 13.6KViews0likes3CommentsInfoscale 7.2 Installation on Windows 2012 R2 Successful but RDP Services crash
I am trying to install Infoscale 7.2 in order to Cluster NetBackup 8.0 on a Windows 2012 R2 platform. I am running into an issue where once Infoscale 7.2 installation shows as successfull then RDP access to both nodes gets disabled. I have ran the data collector tool before the installation and found no issues report. The notable thing is the first time i installed Infoscale 7.2 it failed due to some windows update requirements with error "V-72-1-494 installation of Micrsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable x-64 has failed on one or more systems. The issue has occured because one of more required Microsoft Windows updates are not installed on the system." I then procedded to i install the updates and repair the Micrsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable x-64 and install the Infoscale 7.2. I see that the installation is successul, but once system is rebooted, RDP services shutdown. A Case was opened with Microsoft and this is what they have to say: Server was working as expected and running normally and RDP is working fine Once your team install Veritas it’s corrupted the RDP as well registry files We manage to reboot the server again and choose last good known configuration with restore our registry from last good state and resolve our issue where we was able to RDP again After your time once more install Veritas it’s lead to the same issue We manage one more time to make our system up and running using the same trick for choosing last good known configuration At this point we are sure that Veritas application leading the server into our issue. I later on tried reinstalling the OS and doing the installation again but same results again, so i need urgent help if anyone faced this issue, and what they did to resolve it. I am sorry if this question has an obvious answer, but I have searched both Veritas, SORT and VMware for one but have not been able to find anything. A few years ago I set up a VCS evironment containing eight Red Hat 6.x servers in a VMware ESX cluster of four servers. One of the requirements from Symantec for this setup were two Distributed vSwitches, one private and one public. This Vmware feature needed vSphere Enterprise Plus licenses. Naturally the client was a bit reluctant to buy them as they are quite expensive. I now have another client asking for a similar setup with InfoScale. I assume the requirements have not really changed, and we still need the DSV. Only I cannot find this requirement anywhere and I need an official confirmation from a Veritas document before the client will consider buying the licenses. Could anybody point me in the direction of an article or document where I can find this information. There is an old VMware KB article on this, but it is from 2013: https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=2046035&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&dialogID=248000730&stateId=0%200%20284119377thstettler10 years agoLevel 33.5KViews0likes6CommentsVCS Java Console 7.4.1 Windows working only on one cluster node
Hello, I have a Veritas InfoScale 7.4.1 cluster, 2 nodes. I've installed VCS Java Console 7.4.1 on my Win10 desktop. Connecting to Cluster is possible only via first node. If I try connecting with Java Console via second node I'm getting the error: VCS ERROR V-16-10-106 Could not connect to a live system in the cluster xxx:14141. Both nodes are up and running. Thank you for any explanation. Regardshb407796 years agoLevel 23.4KViews0likes7Comments
