Update from 24 to 24.1
I am trying to update my System Recovery 24 to version 24.1. I would like to know if it is possible to perform this update without uninstalling the previous version. When I attempt the update, the process stops silently without displaying any error messages. Could you please advise on the correct procedure to successfully update to version 24.1? Thank you for your assistance.murphy601 month agoLevel 243Views0likes5CommentsRPAM initialisation failed after incremental backup job is completed successfully.
RPAM has not been updated since 20.nov. That day my backup drive hand a change of drive letter because a Microsoft recovery partition which did not have a drive letter unexpectedly got a drive letter. I had to unwind that so my backup jobs would recognize my backup drive. Is there a fix? Is it OK to delete the RPAM file?fiasko11 month agoLevel 134Views0likes1CommentUpgrading Veritas System recovery 18
I'm sorry that this is probably a stupid question but the answer is above my pay grade . I am running Veritas System Recovery 18 on a Windows 10 machine. It has been working very well (since before Veritas in Symantec days). I have now bought (not yet received) a new Windows 11 machine. I am clueless as to what is the best way forward. Should I download the latest (??) version of ??? on the Windows 11 machine and when I attach the external backup disk, will I be able to access the data to enable files transfer etc. I would be very grateful if someone could advise me on where I go from here. Many thanks. Derekmcbrydc3 months agoLevel 2150Views0likes1CommentASR24 Recovery Disk Problem
There is a very large folder in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp called symsrdtemp which takes up 3.23GB of disk space and can't be deleted in the normal way. This folder appeared when I created a recovery disk after recently installing ASR24. It can't be deleted by running Disk Clean-Up in admin mode. I can probably remove it by taking control of the folder structure etc. but my point is that I shouldn't have to do that at all. It should have been cleanly removed by ASR itself after the disk creation. I only noticed it by accident and I wonder how many other ASR users have a 3GB+ file sitting it their temp folders taking up unnecessary space. Hopefully this message will be passed onto the developers.ASW8214 months agoLevel 367Views0likes2CommentsAll I want to do is buy a licence (PART THREE!)
Well, here we are again, 10 months after posting my second message on this subject and I am STILL no nearer to being able to buy a licence!!! My current licence will expire in September. I sent two emails to Ben Spickard very recently and they have both been ignored. Is he still there? I'd just like to know if any progress has been made to enable individual users to buy online. Last year I was told that Veritas was working on it but I have heard nothing for the last ten months. If it's not going to happen then please let us know and I will look elsewhere for a backup solution.Gonad7 months agoLevel 4139Views0likes1CommentASR 24 poor backup performance (Win11 24H2)
I have been using System Recovery for many years, starting with Symantec System Recovery, migrating to Veritas System Recovery, and now I have moved to Arctera System Recovery 24 for my new Windows 11 machine. I am currently experiencing a frustrating issue with all backups in Arctera System Recovery 24. Whenever I start a drive backup task, everything starts out normal. It builds the snapshop and starts copying files as expected. But inevitably, after the backup task has been running for about 15-20 minutes, the performance completely drops off. I can see the disk activity in Task Manager for the target drive and it goes from a consistent write speed for the first 15-20 minutes, to an extremely inconsistent write speed that spikes up and down. Task Manager shows low CPU usage, low memory usage, and low disk usage, so there should be plenty of resources available. I have tried backups both with and without compression, and the same issue occurs regardless. Backup tasks that should complete in 5-6 hours would require something closer to 36-48 hours to complete, and this performance makes it impossible for me to backup my drives. This performance is not unique to a single drive. I have experienced the same result with backups of 3 different high-speed NVMe drives, using 2 different USB target drives. And those same USB drives were used in Veritas System Recovery on Windows 10 with no issues whatsoever. I can also do a full copy of drive contents in Windows from the source drive to the target USB drive without any slowdown. A copy/paste of full drive contents (~ 3TB) finished in under 6 hours. A drive backup of that same drive would take about 2 days. I am leaning toward this being a software issue, as there are no indications of any hardware problems. Crystal DiskMark benchmarks of all drives appear to be completely normal. I am currently working with Arctera support and they have been very responsive, but we haven't found any answers yet. I just wanted to check here and see whether anyone has experienced this type of issue, with ASR 24 or any other version. If so, were you able to figure out what the problem was and how did you solve it? Hopefully someone can provide guidance. Thank you!CubsWin8 months agoLevel 2127Views0likes2CommentsSystem Tray Icon not responding
I recently built a new PC with a fresh Windows 11 install and installed ASR 24. I was able to apply my license and the application is generally working as expected, except for the system tray icon. Usually when I click the icon in the system tray, nothing happens at all. If I click it several times, one of the clicks will eventually register. Note that none of the other applications running in my system tray have this issue. Has anyone else seen this issue?CubsWin8 months agoLevel 2132Views0likes5Comments- gardis8 months agoLevel 471Views0likes1Comment
System Recovery 24.0
I downloaded the new release of SR 24.0. On the Zip file. I checked the unblock box, saved it, and then unzipped the file. I ran browser.exe on a WIN 10 machine running SR 23.3. The progress window briefly popped up but then disappeared. I uninstalled 23.3 and tried the install of 24.0 again. Sames result. I then tried running 24.0 on another computer running Windows 11 and SR 23.2. Sames result. install started then disappeared, Do we have a possible bug? I have not contacted support yet. Thanks.CQ9 months agoLevel 5690Views2likes18Commentslicence buying
I have not been able to buy a standard licence for System Recovery. I have called support twice which both ended in a similar way. A case was opened and then closed as I was left with the task to find a licence seller. I was supplied with some info, but I could not buy from any one from the list. I'm asking for this because I have been using the Symantec System recovery 2013 and do want to upgrade. I began using the program because I was a part of a testing group. As Symantec was split up and part of it merged with Veritas. In May 2016 I was invited to continue in a new testing group as part of Veritas, testing the upcoming SP 6 of SSR 2013 but had to decline the invitation. I have the Veritas System Recovery 23 Trialvare on my machine now (day 18). How can I by the licence for that product quick and easy?Solvedfiasko9 months agoLevel 3354Views0likes7Comments
