Report for NBU Policies and Schedules
Greetings, Is there a report "somewhere" that will report by backup client server name policy name, backup client name, Full Schedule name with day and scheduled start time, Incremental or Diff Schedule name with days scheduled and the scheduled start time? If there's not a report in NBUITA? Then how about a bash or python script to dump that info off of the primary server to a csv file for bringing that info into an Excel spreadsheet? I need to feed this a list of server names, maybe 30 at a time and dump that to a file. I need to do this for about 1,600 servers. :-)DPeaco5 days agoModerator31Views0likes5CommentsExporting ALL NBUITA Reports to external file
Greetings, Your friendly neighborhood curious geek here. :-) Is there a way to export ALL reports in NBUITA to include all custom reports to an external file for safe keeping? I'd hate to do a patch of version upgrade and lose ANY of the reports we have created/used thus far. This would be something used in case of a DR type of scenario.DPeaco2 months agoModerator63Views1like4CommentsAdd some color to your reports
Not a problem, just thought I'd share a fun little code fragment to add some color to your reports. First, follow the steps in https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100056335 to allow HTML tags in your reports. Then you can do something like this : CASE -- Dropbox entry matches the installed version WHEN '${freeCombo1}' like nbu_release_version THEN '<html><font size="2" color="green">Current' -- 10.5 WHEN '${freeCombo1}' = '10.5' AND nbu_release_version LIKE '10.4.0.1' THEN '<html><font size="2" color="orange">N-1' WHEN '${freeCombo1}' = '10.5' AND nbu_release_version LIKE '10.4' THEN '<html><font size="2" color="red">N-2' ELSE '<html><font size="2" color="purple">Older than N-2 or newer than N' END currency Just thought I'd drop in some inspiration for everyone. Hope it's useful.jnardello2 months agoModerator58Views1like1CommentChargeback Reporting Issue
Greetings ( again ), I'm working through setting up a chargeback report for customer server groups. The issue that I'm running into is on the part of the report that is reporting on TAPES used. The same tape is used across multiple groups and the report shows that one group has a total tape usage cost of over $100K..!!!!! For this ONE group, would mean that they would need over $1M per year for tapes alone. These are LTO-9 tapes that typically will hold 50 TB of data each. So....how do you put a per tape cost in the setup that would reflect correct reporting? Example: 150TB of data backed up is only (and honestly) only 3 tapes - $125.24 per tape - real cost is about $376.00 and NOT almost $100K. Is anybody really using chargeback yet - based on server groups? How are you handling backup to tape - well, duplicated to tape from MSDP. :-) ALSO - why can I NOT look at a "Template" to see what it's doing? The Chargeback Template does almost everything I need done - I just need to hack how the tape cost is being used. Or Cohesity/Veritas truly needs to look at how this report works and fix it to where it's reporting correctly.....or just teach me how to fish with it. ;-)DPeaco2 months agoModerator58Views1like8CommentsWhy So Hard To Do A Report for MSSQL Backups?
Greetings, I've been trying to get a good report out of nbuita for MSSQL backups and I get some but I'm missing a log of backups that are directly related to Availability Group Backups. I was given some sql code from a Veritas person but I'm not able to hack the code to get what I'm after. I checked the nbuita reports library and guess what....there are No Reports for MS-SQL backup policy type. No, I do not know Oracle SQL code. Yes I use Google searches and yes, I ask other people but I end up with ZERO answers. Because of all these reporting problems, we are looking at moving to a different vendor. I'll just leave this where it sits.DPeaco2 months agoModerator65Views0likes10Commentsportal.log - Error message on report generation
Greetings, I know you folks are tired of hearing from me. :-) Generating a report on the portal for MS-SQL backups - Throws an error of something like: There is an error, please see portal.log for more info Now....I'm cool with that BUT........Please Do NOT use the same log file name across multiple locations. It only makes us waste time trying to find WHICH portal.log file you are telling me to go look at. :-) Example: -rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 3796 Aug 22 10:07 ./aptare/upgrade/logs/portal.log -rw-r--r--. 1 tomcat tomcat 682323 Aug 22 09:45 ./apache-tomcat-9.0.105/logs/portal.log -rw-r--r--. 1 tomcat tomcat 562770 Sep 17 09:38 ./apache-tomcat-9.0.107/logs/portal.log Also, please keep in mind that not all of us have "root" access to go look at these things (Think path to get here). Yes, I may be complaining here....but I only have so many hours in a day. :-D Why not give me a message on the portal......Please look in log file: /var/aptare/logs/portal.log for more information. Why do I need to go to /var/apache-tomcat-oh-my-gosh-what-version-are-we-at-now/logs/portal.log ???? And....why aren't the patches we install clean up the older files/directories that are no longer needed? OK, I need more sleep and less stress in my life. :DDPeaco2 months agoModerator13Views0likes0CommentsNBUITA - Report Column Output Width
Greetings, Ok, we are now at version 11.6.04 and I'm still not seeing a way to control the column width of the output for any report coming out of NBUITA. Who needs 25 empty space after any data value in any column in a report? It's just creating a messy looking report. Server policy schedule start date end date return code Ok, I think you get what I'm saying. If a server name is only 16 characters? Why do I need 30 or more spaces to put that server name in a report column? Any idea as to when we can narrow the columns in a report output?DPeaco3 months agoModerator31Views1like3CommentsCreating a SQL Design Report
Hi, I need to create a report to check if my backup jobs are being executed within the backup window, which is from 7PM to 6AM. In other words, if the report shows any backup job being executed before or after this backup window, this means that we have a problem. The job summary report shows all the jobs, so I want to schedule it to run every day at 10AM, but it will show all the jobs that were executed from the previous day from 4PM until the day it is executed until 10AM. Ex: Today is 05-22-25 The report will show from 05-21-25 at 4PM until today 05-22-25 at 10AM. I want to know how I can configure this here: SELECT apt_v_job.client_name, apt_v_job.start_date FROM apt_v_job WHERE apt_v_job.summary_status = 0 AND apt_v_job.start_date BETWEEN ${startDate} AND ${endDate} Thanks.sandrix3 months agoLevel 358Views0likes2CommentsNBUITA - Does it pickup VM tags?
Greetings, I am researching to see if nbuita does or can gather vm tags. We are working on automating as much as we can and would like to see if we can use info from nbuita to report on vm host tags. Anyone know?SolvedDPeaco3 months agoModerator36Views0likes1CommentApache Tomcat - Chasing Vulnerabilities
Greetings, Does anyone know if we can patch Apache Tomcat outside of the "whenever we release it" bundle from Veritas? There's way too many times when there's an update to tomcat that resolves a discovered vulnerability and yes, I did ask on a support call a long while back, that we can't update it outside of the typical scheduled nbuita patch release bundles. Is this being researched or worked so tomcat can be patched outside of the nubita patch bundle?SolvedDPeaco3 months agoModerator35Views0likes1Comment
