Moving DA databases
We want to move ourDiscovery Acceleratordatabases from one SQL server (SQLOLD\Vault) to a new SQL server (SQLNEW\Vault). We don't use Compliance Accelerator at all, just DA. I'm trying to work out a plan for moving them, and am a little confused about the difference between the steps outlined in this article: https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH51129 OR, just logging in to http://daserver/EVBAAdmin as the vault service account and changing the pointers/DSN's there. Am I confusing two separate configurations? We are JUST moving the DA databases right now, and leaving theactual enterprise vaultdatabases in place where they are. The part that has me confused is that right off the bat, the "AcceleratorManager.exe.config" has a DSN line that references a db that doesn't exist ("Initial Catalog='EVConfiguration'). We do not have that db in our SQLOLD\Vault instance, so is this file really where the config is coming from for DA? Under the EVBAAdmin site, there are two DB's configured, one called "CustodianManager" and another that was configured with a custom name related to our organization (call it "Company_Name" for a generic description) and both have DSN's listed that point to them in the correct location on the existing SQL server (SQLOLD\Vault). To just move the DA databases, can I simply stop EVAMS services, detach and move the DB's, log in to http://daserver/EVBAAdmin as vault service account and update the DSN's/pointers, and restart EVAMS services? [EDIT]: OK, my bad. We DO have the EVConfiguration database on our SQLOLD\Vault server. Is this db a part of Enterprise Vault, or is it a part of DA? If we are not moving the EV databases yet, can I leave the .config files alone and simply change the database DSN's in http://daserver/EVBAAdmin after moving "CustodianManager" and "Company_Name" customer databases? Discovery Accelerator - Search results, can you review without accepting
I'm working with Discovery Accelerator at the moment and I'm wondering what the story is with the search functionality within a case You create a case and you do your search/ searches. Now as far as I can tell the only means of review to see if your search results are right is the number of records returned? that's why the underlined statement below in the DAhelp confuses the hell out of me. The only way Ican look at the results is by accepting them for review, Once Ihave done that I can't modify the search if it wasn't right. Because Ican't then remove an incorrectsearch I have to delete the case and start again. I have to say it seems to me to be one of the most unintuative features of the whole system and I'm a lead infrastructure analyst who putEV and a SANin, what the hell happens when Iunleash this on the users?!?!?!? They are going to go nuts!! Can someoneconfirmifthis isthe correct understanding of how it should operate, it's doing my head in!! When you have created a case, you must search for information to include in it. This process involves the following activities: Running one or more searches on the relevant vault stores for suitable information. Discovery Accelerator offers a wide range of search criteria from which to choose: words and phrases to look for, date ranges, message size, author and recipient addresses, and more. Implications of restarting EV services and DA Accelerator services
Hi Environment is EV 9.0.2 We currently restart the following EV services nightly: Enterprise Vault Task Controller Service Enterprise Vault Storage Service Enterprise Vault Shopping Service We do this for historical reasons as we did it in our older EV8 environment, I believe it was to clear up MAPI sessions andkeep the system running more smoothly. Is this still necessary? Does restart these EV services impact DA searches and exports? What's the impact? Does restarting the DA Accelerator service impact DA searches and exports? Hello, I have a situation where legal needs anexport of all emails sent between two parties. They do not need the actual content, just the To &From fields and maybe the Subject. Is there a way to do that in DA? I tried searching with the browser search in EV, but I could not find a way to just export the metadata, only the content. They are using EV for journaling only, not mailbox archiving. Is there a way do this from EV (Like maybe just export form the index)? Hi All, kindly i need your help, i installed EV discovery accelerator 11, but am not able to connect tohttp://localhost/evbaadmin/, it give me the below error "You are viewing this site without administrator privileges. Hi guys We recently purchased discovery accelerator and much to my dismay it has become incredibly urgent to have this product up and running within days due to a legal requirement. I have installed and got this up and running with 0 install issues at all, but now when it's time to create a test case, I hit a brick wall, I can't search at all. There is no search options. I feel like i've missed something really silly here in the configuration phase. I've setup a configuration database, a customer database (on a seperate database server to the EV server database) and installed the client. Now when I connect and create a case I see the below. and running through the install and admin guides seem to just say 'click on case then go to the searching tab....' I'm really scratching my head trying to figure what i have missed. However, I'm also in the unfortunate position that I have someone telling me that if it's not working in 24 hours, begin a manual export/search/sort of pst files :S Any help much appreciated. Environment Discovery accelerator 8.0SP3 Enterprise vault 8.0SP3 Win 2k8 Standard x64 sp2 on app and database EV and DA databases are seperate servers. In setting up my company database, it does find and display all user archives in the Enterprise vault. Not sure what other info might be needed.Solved3.4KViews0likes7Comments
DA Attachment Name Search
Thank you in advance for any assistance! EV and DA are v9 All I need to perform is a search that looks for attachment names that have, for example, "ABC" in the file name. I've referenced these two links and cannot get any DA hits on my search attempts. http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/discovery-search-specific-attachment-name http://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/discovery-accelerator-hidden-searchable-items Using information from the 2nd link, it appears that I can use attribute "TSUB" with description: Attachments only - the subject / title of the top-level item. Do I use a Custom Attribute within a new search to utilize "TSUB"?
