Understanding EEB fix

Hi Teams,

I'm new to VERITAS and Appliance Flex. I also apologize for my poor English :). I'll do my best.
I'm a little confused because I just updated my instances to 10.5.0.1 and 20.5.0.1 for WORM.

I'm trying to understand this alert and the installation of this EEB bundle. https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/downloads/update.UPD797515

I have a primary, a media and a worm. I try to understand the "installation location" part, on which instances should I deploy? I don't understand this part especially: "All servers that are MSDP storage pools or can write to an MSDP storage pool should also have this EEB installed."

Worm is in disk poll MSDP, the media is advanced disk, and the primary just serves as a master. Here's what I understand: I have to install this EEB on my WORM because it's in MSDP storage pool, but the rest is!!!

I'm trying to figure out how to process this type of EEB bundle.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Med

  • This EEB must be installed on every system that performs deduplication calculations—essentially on every NetBackup component (master, media, WORM, and clients if you are using client-side deduplication).

  • Hi StefanosM,

thank you for this feedback. I checked our configuration and deduplication is configured server side not client side. Then our client doesn't concern us.

But i understand our Master, Media and WORM have to be patch with this EEB even if we use deduplication client side.

    right?
