2010 Environment Check fails on the Windows Server Service.

I have 2 systems that I'm currently trying to upgrade to Backup Exec 2010. Both are giving me the same error in the environment check, 'Windows Server Service is not started'.

When I check the services console, the Windows Server Service is started and running. I can' t seem to get the environment check to see that the Server service is in fact started and running.

Has anyone else seen this?

I've checked my event logs and there isn't anything that's in an error status. Needless to say I'm a little stumped.

Both servers I'm upgrading are running Windows 2003 STD 32bit. One is running Backup Exec 11d, and the other is running Backup Exec 12.

Thanks!

  • Hi,

Normally a reboot of the server sorts things out. Give that a bash and try again. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest updating Windows first, as that is where the issue seems to lie. Once done, try the installation again.
