Active Directory on Backup Exec Server

Yes, you can have active directory on the Backup Exec server, as long as it is powerful enough to handle both of them. You may require to update the service account after you promote the machine to domain controller, if BE is already installed on it. So, after you promote the machine to domain controller, the services may not start and you would need to change the logon account of the services to domain administrator account. Apart from this, there should not be much of a problem doing it. Ideally, we would recommend not to host AD or any other service on BE server, for the primary reason of performance. But, if it is required, you can certainly go ahead with that.
