Adamm Mover Error: Unload Status Failure!

We have an HP Proliant ML530 G2 server, running Windows Server 2003 and Backup Exec v10, with an internal SDLT 320 drive.

Up until a few days ago, our backups were running.

Now, each tape that is inserted into the SDLT drive is automatically ejected. I tried the cleaning tape, but it was also ejected.

Tapes are appearing as <unknown media> in backup exec.  The same tapes are read fine in another internal SDLT drive that we have in another server.

There have been no software updates or hardware changes.

I restarted the server this morning, but it did not help.

In the server's event viewer, we have Event ID 33152

Adamm Mover Error: Unload Status Failure!

Error = ERROR_IO_DEVICE

Drive = "COMPAQ 1"

{B0BA34DB-05A0-4066-9B14-7A4576AD5FD3}

Media = ""

Read Mode: SingleBlock(0), ScsiPass(0)

Write Mode: SingleBlock(1), ScsiPass(1)

Can anyone assist?

Please.

    If you shut down all BackpExec services, can NTBackup see and access the library/drive?

    if not, it is probably a hardware error. Also, check that cables and termintors are fully seated

  • Sorry, I did not read your message before the following happened.

    The SDLT drive was replaced last week by an engineer.  The tape remained in the drive and we were able to do a backup.  However, later on in the evening when the backup was scheduled to run, it ejected the tape.  I seem to be back to square one.  Perhaps it is the connectors that are on the blink rather than the tape drive.

    Today, I stopped Backup Exec services and tried to run an NT backup, as suggested.  The job log said 'Cannot locate the specified media or backup device.  This backup operation will terminate.'
