Archiving option installation issues

Hi All,

I'm currently trying to install the Archiving option on BE2012 Sp1, however it want even let me tick the option box without coming up with an error "a previous program installation created pending file operations on the installation machine. You must restart the computer before installing File System Archive Option"

I have restarted the services and the computer numerous times.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

  • On the media server, using regedit, browse to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager & see if you can find a key named "PendingFileRenameOperations". If yes, take a backup & then delete this key. Restart the Backup Exec services & retry to install the Archiving option.

  • Did you install the licence for the Archive option?

  • Hello BEI,

Do you have any conflicting Software (3rd party Backup Software) installed on the server?? Also is there any other Archiving software installed on the server??

If Yes, then try to disable or uninstall those softwares and then try the installation of Archiving Option of Backup Exec.

Please refer to the following technote which give these details

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH135889 : When adding the license for the Backup Exec File System Archiving Option an error is received.

    Thanks,

  • Hi VJware,

Your solution of deleting the reg key has worked like a charm

    Thank you
