It's file server and most of them are scanned photos files.

If you are backing up to Dedupe storage, then you should not enable compression as well.

So, compression and deduplication , which one is most storage efficient?

Better to go with deduplication. When backup is directed to dedupe , internally compression is also done.

BE uses stream handlers to dedupe the File level , VMDK , VHDX, NDMP data backup. File Level gives the highest dedupe ratio amongst these sources that you will backup up. Compression is also inbuilt in Dedupe and is by default enabled. No specific ratio can be stated as it depends on the data being backed up.
