Backing up Exchange 2000/2003 after installing 2007

I know 10d will not back up Exchange 2007, and I am not even trying that.

However after adding the Exchange 2007 server, I am no longer able to backup individual mailboxes. I have double checked that all the permissions were correct.

I can backup the entire mail store however.

Has anyone had any luck backing up mailboxes on a 2000 or 2003 after adding a 2007 server?

  • I haven't tried it, but I was wondering if Exchange 2007 modifies the Active Directory schema in any way? It's the only thing I can think of that might affect access to Exchange 2003.
  • It defiantly does that. We know the backup account has access to the boxes in question. We can log into them and read and send mail with the backup account, so I am sure it has more permissions then it probably needs. But it still errors out saying access denied.
