Backing up to a NAS Device, and Media Sets

Hello

When backing up to a NAS, i was under the assumption that BUE could not manage the media sets properly once they had expired, due to no Windows Remote Agent installed like on a Windows OS

I have a few clients, which have the NAS setup, and seems to work, and we have another who say's he has to manually remove the expired sets to prevent filling up

Sometines i manually expire them (and/or erase job) before backup just incase, but if i dont for any reason it seems ok. I cant really tell unless i make a note, or screen shot of the expired ones, and see if they get deleted

Version is backup Exec 2010 (old i know) not sure if that makes difference.

Can anyone advise

Thanks

  • Backup Exec will manage the Media Sets when it comes to B2Ds. However, BE 2010 didn't do it very well. It has become a lot better on newer versions.

Something to look into is an upgrade, if at all possible.
