Backup Exec- importing media

Hola!

Has someone read  tapes written by data protector, using Backup Exec 2010?

Thanks & Regards

  • ...the answer is no. Check the BE 2010 SCL (Software Compatibility List). It only shows ARCserve (up to 11.5), MOM and Samba...nothing else.

If you get it to work, good stuff...if you need to get data off, try getting hold of a trial version of HP DP and restore data like that, before backing it up using BE.

  • I've never done it, but generally, BackupExec can read tapes written by other software as long as they use MTF (Microsoft Tape Format) and are NOT software compressed, or encrypted

  • I don't think this will be possible.
Data Protector uses a different format.

  • Thanks Ken Putnam, let me check if the backup image were compressed or  encrypted.

ZeRoC00L, Do you know what type Data protector uses for sure?

  • No, sorry don't find any info about it. But I assume it is it's own proprietary format.
