Backup Exec 2012 restore job stuck at 0 Bytes

Hi,

I am attempting a restore job to a alternate location. The restore job has started and says it is running however the speed is not registering and there are 0 bytes completed in the restore. These are just simple files (no databases, exchange etc.) See below for a picture. Its also worth noting that nothing in the destination folder has shown up. Looking at the tape deck it shows that it is reading the tape: The green light is blinking.

Thanks for any help on this matter.

  • It finally started running 3.5 hours later. Perhaps a bug in the code though? It says its restoring at 154MB/min but the total bytes is around 3-4GB a min. Might be something to investigate.

    Thanks for the help anyway.

  • Hi, Create a duplicate backup job from the tape to disk and then try the restore job from there.

  • Sorry I'm not sure how to do that. I'm aware of doing a backup job from disk to tape but not a restore job from tape to disk. Could you explain?

  • Yes,  it is actually a duplicate backup job from tape to disk.  After that completes then the restore job is ran from the b2d location.  sounds like you know how... but here is more info:  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH187265

Note:  glad it started,  and as far as the slow start... you can check to make sure if there is AV running the the Backup Exec processes are excluded
