Backup exec 2014 tape check

Backup exec 2014: how often should we check tapes that recorded to confirm if they work or not.(we deleted source)..

  • ...check the job log and it will tell you if it verified or not.

If you don't run a Verify job, then there is no way of knowing whether or not the data on tape is restorable. The only way around this is to run a test restore and record the results.

    Thanks!

  • The only way to check whether a tape is still good is to read it. A good way we'll be to duplicate it to a new tape.

  • The matter that we want to learn is different. We already do run a verify job when we save. We mean to say that when should we check tapes after recording.  A year, two years etc…The matter that we want to learn is different. We already do run a verify job when we save. • Well, you need to check the tape manufacturer's site to see how long they will last. It depends on the environment they're stored in. Errors on the tape, usage etc...

    Thanks!
