Backup Exec error
For the last 4 nights my backup exec has failed with the following error in the job log:
Backup- System?State System?
StateMedia mount failed.
User canceled a Physical Volume Library operation.
V-79-57344-33861 - The media operation was terminated by the user.
The job history only shows the backup information and not the verify which it should. Ordinarily the job should backup and verify in approx 8 hours but is now running on till it automatically cancels at 10 hours.
The amount of data is also approx the same as is the job rate. I have restarted the server and done a live update, but the backup is still not verifying/ejecting tape.
OS: Windows 2003 standard sp2
Server: Poweredge 1800
TapeDevice: DAT160
BE ver: 11d rev.6235
please help

- Hi Justin,
The system state and the services state are two different things. In the backup job if you expand the "Shadow Copy Components" object, it will show both system state and service state. You can deselect only service state - that's what I was suggesting.
However, it does sound like you have perhaps run out of room. Depending on what you are backing up, the compression ratio is going to be different. If most of what is on that drive are program files, for example, you won't get very good compression. If you think the compression ratio has changed, you could try testing that. Depending on what model of tape drive you have, the mfr. might have a testing application that you can use to see if the drive is operating properly.
Hope this helps
