Backup Exec Services on "xxxxxx": Stopped , Version 11d revision 7170

We have restart our Tandberg tape library. The "Connect to Media Server" screen pops up when I try to start Symantec backup exec, however, on the bottom of  "The Connect to Media Server" screen, it shows "Backup Exec Services on xxxxxxx: Stopped".

I had tried to manually start  "Backup Exec Server" service, but it returns an error "Could not start the Backup Exec Server service on Local Computer, Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly"

How do I fix this issue, or do I need to post more info. using the BE utility?
  • Hello,

I think we should perform a power cycle on the network
1  : Turn OFF the BE Server
2  : Turn OFF the Library
3  : Disconnect the Library from the BE Server
4  : Turn ON the Server (The entries of the Library will go away from the Operating System)
5  : Turn OFF the BE Server
6  : Connect the Library and turn ON the Library..Let the Library Boot...
7  : Turn on the BE Server

Also Check the Device Manager for the Library and the Drives

    Let me know the results...

    Hello Eric,

going through the snaphots attached i see two services are not starting
    1) BE RPC service i.e. ur BEserver service cause of it the Job engine is failing as well.

Try starting all the BE services on Local system account. (open services.msc and right click on the services and than properties, in properties click on the log on tab and than select the Local system accout) and try and start all the services.

If services start successfully open the BE console and than click on the Network at the top and then select the logon account.

select your existing domain account and then click on edit and retype the same password and then try starting the services on the domain account.

however if the services fails to start on the Local system account please let me know what event ID's in the application log for the backup Exec
  • Dev T, I have tried your solution, unfortunately BE service still won't start up. However, thanks for your help! =)

i would suggest you reload your database from the backup database,

in the installation directory of the BE (by default C:\programe files\symantec\backu Exec) search for BEutilty and double click on it

    Click on all media server
on the right hand side you shall see ur Server name right click on it and than click on the recover my database
Select the second option drop existing database and reload from backup, click on Ok and let the process run,

Make sure all the services are back on the domain account.....

once u click on OK that shall restart all the services, this issue does get resolved by reloading the database,

Let me know if this works out for u.....
