Backup jobs take ages to finish

Hi All,

I'm getting backup completion times over 100 hours. See the enclosed screenshot about a job that took almost 90 hours to complete.

The thing is I'm not backing up all the data of the world to need such amount of time to finish the backups. In the screenshot provided is around 1.5GB in almost 90 hours.

What can I check? Where can be the problem?

    Alerts like "Remove Media" can be set to clear out automatically.

    Hi,

     

    Couple of things you can try:

    1. Restart the media server, and/or the remote server giving you the slow speed and see if this fixes things.

    2. Make sure you're on BE 2010 R3 with SP2 and any subsequent patches. Push-install these updates out to any remote servers you might have.

    3. Check to see if your antivirus isn't perhaps blocking or causing issues with the BE services, and if so, put in exclusions for them.

    4. Make sure that you have the network card and switch port set to the fastest speed of the network card (ie. 1000MB FULL).

    Check for any unattended "Media Alerts" If in case backups are targetted to a tape drive.

    Can the media alerts be resolved automatically to reduce the time backups need to complete?
