Backup NAS storage

I have an external backup NAS storage configured on the Backup Exec 2012. Under storage it shows me as a device. However when i try to create a job and try to choose the storage i see only the backup disk volume  and not the Backup NAS as an optional storage . Is there anything i need to do here. An inventory was done and completed for the NAS.

    On the DD610 unit, upgrade to the latest 5.1 DDOS.  It gives you the most performance to date for CIFS.

    Create your CIFS share as you've done already.

    Verify you can access said share from the BE server via \\device\sharename

    Write files to the share, and delete them.

    You may need to turn on LDAP integration in the DD to sync with your permissions.  Or you create a service account on the DD that matches your BE service account.

     

    Re-run through the setup wizard for the storage device.  Chapter 9 I believe in the Admin Guide.

    Have you created a Backup to disk folder in the DEVICES TAB and a Media Set in the MEDIA TAB??

    You need both to run it properly

    I guess this option you mentioned  is for BE2010. I am using BE2012.

    ...if you're backing up to the NAS, and it's capable of iSCSI, turn that on. Present however many iSCSI LUNs you want to the backup sevrer (span within BE if need be to create a much larger drive), and your problem should be solved.

    I've done this with 3 different types of Iomega NAS devices and it works like a charm!

    Unfortunately the NAS drive has no SCSI support. It is connected via ethernet to the Backup Server. When you look under the storage tab it does show up along with the Backup volume. However when you create a job and want to specify the storage location for the backup job only the Backup volume is listed.

    I hope i can explain the problem better.

    When i go to Storage i can see the NAS device.( the storage Type is shown as Legacy backupto disk folder). I was using the NAS with the old backup server. I have not recreated any  backup to disk folder on the NAS after the migration. Do i need to recreate it again ?  However when i try to create a job  and under Backup Options--Storage--Under Full or Incremental  when i click on Storage the NAS folder does not show up in the Storage pools.

    Thanks for the link, Craig. I have created ta new  CIFS share on the data domain, but somehow it doesnt seem to show up when i am specifying a storage location for a new job.

    Not sure what i am missing here.
