Backup speed is too slow

Hello Support,

Hope all good at your end.

I have installed symantec backup exec 2010 R3 {version 13.0 Rev 5204 64 bit} on my HP server DL380 G7 (windows server 2008 R2 standard version 64bit).

On that same server my Symantec endpoint portection is also installed but on diffrent drive.

Backup is getting on Tape drive .i.e. External HP LTO 6 with SCSI.

Issue is I am taking backup of my internal servers folders and the speed I am getting is 70 to 77 MB/min which is very poor speed.

Same I had discussed with one of my colleague as per him the speed should be in MBPS.

    Thanks... I just found a solution, in case anybody with a similar problem stumbles through here... Enabling a second NIC just drove the throughput up to 35 MB/sec, even though both NICs are GB and run through the same switch to get to the NAS.

    I'm having a similar problem... However, I use Symantec System recovery 2011 (Server Edition) and SEP 12.1 Small Business Edition.  SEP SBE doesn't provide access to most of the settings specified in the tech notes. 

    Quick details:  Running backups to a NAS

    • SSR is running on Windows SBS 2011 Std
    • SSR is writing to the NAS at ~500kB/sec
    • Just performing a regular file copy runs at ~ 68 MB/sec (even while the backup is running too)

    This is a new problem... I had to do a fresh install of SEPM (lost all my policies etc.) which is when the slowdown began.  I suspect that I had some legacy policies set in SEP which was allowing the recovery software to work, but I can't get to those policies in the current version of SEPM.

     

    Suggestions?

    You should post this on the SSR forum. Nobody on this forum will be able to help you
