Backup to tape stuck for more than 4 days with no progress ?

Folks,

Can anyone please assist me with what is currently happening with the current backup job in my BE 2012 that is currently stuck not moving forward since Monday 4 days ago?

See the following screenshot:

I have placed new tapes into the Tape drives but still no progress is made.

Any idea would be greatly appreciated.

  • When did you put the new tape into the library? After the job prompts for an overwritable tape? If so, then it is not going to work. From your other discussion, you are not using barcode labels. You would need to inventory the new tape so that it is recognised, but you cannot do this because the backup job is running. Unfortunately, you would need to cancel the job and start all over again. You need to make sure you have sufficient overwritable tapes in the partition targeted by the job BEFORE the start of the job
  • is there any way to restart this job to ensure that the backup job is working from the beginning again correctly?

I've attached the screenshot to give more clarity of the problem.

  • If it is because of this well know bug in BE2012:

So how can I verify it from the SQL Server or from the Backup Exec ?

what is the temporary work around to make sure the backup can be processed ?

  • Thanks PKH,

yes you are right, I'm not using Barcode.

So is there any way to detect if there is a dead lock in the BE SQL Server express ?
