Backupexec 12.5 - Upgrade to 2012

 

Hi All,

We had backupexec 12.5 and we did a fresh installtion of the backupexec 2012 on a new server. (old backupexe server is not in production now)

The backupexec 2012 is working fine, recently we needed to restore some old data as we did not migrated from backup exec 12.5 is it possible to copy the old catalogs of 12.5 to backupexec 2012 and will it have any effect on the running configuration.

    It would be better to re-catalog the media.  However, if there is a lot of old backup sets that you want, then you can copy the old catalogs to the Catalog directory and then restart all the BE services.

    the catalogs size is 70GB so better to copy ?

    Will be doing it and I will update.

    any side effects will be there ? any precaution needs to be taken.

    Not really, other than making sure that you do not have duplicate media labels/names.  If you have duplicates, then you would have to use another catalog directory before reverting to the usual one.
