BE 2010 Exchange 2007 backups "hang"

Hello.

I'm seeing something and I'm not sure what exactly BE 2010 is trying to do with my Exchange 2007 server.

 

If I run a FULL it "completes" in about an hour.

I see the 100% complete mark.

Then it does something for the next 5 or so hours before the Job ends!

What is it doing?

If I look at "Job Activity" the "Current file" is pointing to one of the 3 Exchange datastore folders, not an individual file or anything.

This happens for the Inc as well.

 

I do notice that the byte count is constantly increasing.

 

Any ideas?

 

I've turned everything off that I thought might be slowing things down.

I'm not using BE2010 for anything other than offsite disaster recovery so I don't neet granular restore or anything.

    Nothing related.

    Just an informational from when I restarted the service due to another backup on another server failing to start

    ...can you check if its committing the logs to the Information Store? Generally it would do this after backing up the IS itself...

    It finished after 5 hours. I didn't get a green but rather a yellow.

    There were several temp files that weren't backup up.

    Should be ok.

     

    CraigV, how do I check that?

    ...should show that during the backup procedure, but you'd also see if the logs were clearing.

    That said, you mentiond a couple of temp files skipped. Are these flat files? If so, I'd really recommend splitting your Exchange/other DBs backups from your data backups. If you're using AOFO, it is known to cause issues at times with DBs...
