BE 2010 R2 wants to install SP1 several times

Hello.

I have an issue with my installation of Backup Exec 2010 R2.

The issue is that Live Update wants to install SP1 and other hotfixes even though they're already installed. Please see attached image.

It's now the 3rd time it wants to install SP1. The 2nd time I just let it do it again. After that it also wanted to install several hotfixes that also already was installed.

I noticed that when I ran Live Update this time, it said something about my product wasn't registered properly and asked if I wanted to register. I then agreed to that, and now it is asking to install SP1 once more.

How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance.

  • Look in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate folder for the files which were downloaded by liveupdate earlier. If those are not there, that will be the reason for your issue. AV may be causing problems.

If that's not the case, try uninstalling and reinstalling liveupdate.

You can also consider upgrading BE to 2010 R3.

    Regards...

  • I've attached 2 screenshots of the LiveUpdate folder - does it look OK? I don't know what I should expect to find in those folders.

Regarding upgrading to 2010 R3 - is that a free upgrade? We've bought 2010 R2 less than a year ago.

    Thanks.

  • I found some info regarding upgrading to R3 and that I'm also able to download 2010 R3 via Symantec File Connect.

Though, I'd still like your response to the Live Update issue, thanks.
