We have been running Backup Exec for Windows version 10d for the past 5 years in our small network, with the BE Remote Agent running on each of the workstations. We recently added a new workstation to our network . It is running Windows 7 (x64). Is a remote agent available for us that will work on that machine? Thanks, Jim

Backup Exec 10d does not support windows 7, windows 7 is supported in Backup Exec 2010.

Here is the link for SCL (software compatibility list ) for Backup Exec 2010 which talks about what on what O.S. you can install remote agents.

BE 2010 does not support the backup of Windows 7. It is not listed in the SCL.

Windows 7 is NOT supported as a Media Server (Backup Exec Server) but it is supported as a Remote Agent for Backup Exec 2010....

Yes you are correct Dev... so what we can do in Jim's case is, we can install BE 2010 media server on one of the supported OS and then we should be able to backup the new workstation which is running Windows 7 (x64) by installing remote agent on it.

I was going to post a question if we could still install BE 10d on a Windows 7 Pro system and I found this post.

So to confirm we cannot install the full Symantec BE 10d server installation on a Windows 7 Pro computer to backup several Win 2003 servers but we could install 10d on an older OS and backup this Windows 7 system (which isn't what we want here).

Nope. v10d does not support windows 7 as a Remote machine either. The first version that did was 2010
