BE2012 is ejecting Tapes when ejecting is disabled

Hi,

i have an issue with BE2012.

I have a small customer with 5 VMs to backup. The job runs B2D and then directly duplicate to tape.

Since one week the server starts to eject the tape (standalone tape drive) after every duplicate job. The option for ejecting tapes after completion is not selected.

Any idea what could cause this behaviour?

Regards

  • Are you running multiple jobs sequentially?

My guess is that the ejection is not happening because of something (such as "eject after job completes" being selected) at the END of the job.  Rather the ejection is happeneing at the start of the next job because the tape in the drive is not suitable for that starting job, so the tape gets ejected with the hope that an acceptable tape will be inserted.  There is advice and workarounds to prevent this, if this is your scenario.

If feasible, I would certainly encourage updating to BE 15 as it solves a lot of the complaints with BE 2012.

  • ...looks like it is part of the design for BE 2012. See below:
