BU Exec 12.5, error 0xe000fe09 "The directory is invalid"

I get this error from time to time, an at the present time, I'm archiving a lot of data and making major changes to the file structures on the servers.

My concern is that I don't understand what the rules are regarding the trigger on this error-  Will it give me the error every time anyone deletes a file or folder on the network??  Does this mean I need to reset the selections at the end of each business day?

Please inform me as best you can for this version, thanks folks!

  • If your directory structure keeps changing, you should select the top level directory when you backup.  For example, you have

    C:\a\a

    C:\a\b

    C:\a\c

If you select C:\a\a, C:\a\b, C:\a\c, then if the user delete C:\a\b, you will get your error and you must delete c:\a\b from your selection.  Also, when the user adds c:\a\d, it will not be backed up until you include it in the selection list.

If you select c:\a in your selection list.  then when the user delete c:\a\b, it will automatically be excluded from the backup and when the user adds c:\a\d, it will get backed up automattically.  You don't have to change the selection list in this case.
