Can not backup synology nas to Tape

  • Backup EXEC 24.0
  • Synology DSM 7.0.0

We are trying to backup SMB Share on Synology NAS to Tape.

 We added NAS to File server in Backup EXEC and enabled backup user share.

But Backup Exec try to backup SMB share by NDMP Protocol. Why Backup exec do that?

    Hello centrair 

    This is because BE always tries to connect to any resource over NDMP (Agent) first.
    Normal Backups of Windows Servers are always done over these ports.
    After that i should try connecting over SMB directly if no agent is found (normal on NAS).

    I hope BE engineering does a recreate of this process, because this failed agent connects and following successful SMB connect was logged for a long time in the job log as an error.
