Cannot Backup Exchange 07 Mailbox: -1213 The databse page size does not match the engine.

Hi there,

I'm currently experiencing an error as of today when I backup our Exchange 2007 with GRT on Backup Exec 12.5 SP2.  The Error reports as follows:

V-79-57344-759 - Unable to complete the operation for the selected resource using the specified options.  The following error was returned when opening the Exchange database file: '-1213 The database page size does not match the engine. '.

and

e00002f7 - Cannot extract mailbox messages from the Exchange backup.  Review the job log for more information.

Now I've followed the appropriate link and installed the Hotfix associated with the above error (Hotfix 319699), however this didn't fix the problem, primarily because I already have Backup Exec 12.5 SP2 installed, which already has this hotfix included.  The day before yesterday, we had a full successful backup, and the only difference is that I had installed hotfix 327966.  However, this hotfix has no bearing on Exchange or its backups.  Regardless I'm currently running a backup, and have uninstalled this hotfix to see if it resolves the issue.

My next step is uninstall the backup agent, reinstall it and run again.  If that doesn't work, then I'll try with GRT disabled.

Has anyone else experienced any issues?

Regards,

Gene

  • Hi Rahul,

Thanks for your reply.  I have removed the remote agent on the exchange server and rebooted and reinstalled the remote agent.  I even removed the exchange license from the Backup Exec server, reboot this server and readded the exchange license.  Still no luck.  I've gone as far as rebuilding the entire backup exec server from the ground up (new windows install etc), because it was in need of it anyway, and still no luck.  My only choice appears to try the backup without GRT (assuming this works).  I'm somewhat confused by this because it does suggest something wrong with the remote agent or the exchange server.  However, there have been no changes with the exchange server and remote agent since it was last successfully backed up.

    Any further ideas?

  • I may have solved this issue, but I did it a long way which isn't ideal.

Basically I reinstalled everything (including Windows), it still failed.  So I did what Rahul advised and reinstalled the agent on the exchange server.  Its worked for one backup so far.  We'll see how it goes.

Note I did try reinstall the agent before the reinstall also, with appropriate reboots and everything, but it didn't resolve the issue.  It was only through reinstalling backup exec did the issue get resolved when I push install the agent (assuming its resolved).
