Cannot establish trust

Having installed and configured BE 2012, I cannot establish trust with one of the four virtual servers.

I get the error:

Unable to establish trust with <servername>

Calling Method 'SetServerTrust'

BEMSDK Method 'MediaServerAdvertisementUpdate'

BEMDSK Failure Code: -536835807:X8

The four virtual servers are pretty much alike, so I wonder why just one of the servers responds differently.

Environment is:

WS 2008 R2

MS Hyper-V

BE 2012 Version 14.0 Rev. 1798.

Not using a domain

'administrator' is used for all access.

Thanks in advance.

/Hans

  • Were you able to push the remote agent to the box that youre failing to establish the trust with or did you have to manually install it. Try uninstalling the remote agent and repushing it.

  • Is this a single media server or a Backup Exec CAS MMS configuration ?

  • Check the following

    1) on the remote server, check that the remote agent service is running

    2) open the remote agent utility and make sure that it is publishing correctly to the media server

    3) make sure that you can ping from the media server to the remote server and vice-versa

    4) make sure that there is no firewall blocking port 10000

    5) on the remote server, check that there are no other applications using port 10000.
  • Hi Donald, this did the trick. I wasn't able to push the remote agent in the first place, installed it directly then, and after your suggested uninstall and giving the push a new try, it all worked.

    Thanks a lot!
