Catalog recovery tape data base backup exec

good morning

I'm testing in a secondary recovery backup exec 2014 server (SP1)

We have cataloged a tape and I was able to retrieve information without problems

After that we've initialized the database backup exec with the option Drop the existing database and reload from backup. "

When attempting to catalog the same tape again to continue testing not see any of the backups that were seen previously

You know that it may be?

Thanks in advance

  • There could be a possibility that the Catalog Indices are missing. You can try the below mentioned steps from the Tech Article: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH142684

In some cases where existing catalogs are corrupt or even recreating the catalogs does not help, "Catrebuildindex -r" command can be used to recreate the index. Here are the steps:

    • Opening a command prompt, typing “cd C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec”  and then “catrebuildindex -r”

    • Looking for “Catrebuildindex.exe” into “C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec” and double click on it, which will start the same process but from that executable file.

    Thanks!!

  • yes, we run inventory and catalog two times

The first time it worked properly and we could make recoveries

The second time I did it after recovering the database with Backup exec option (Drop the existing database and reload from backup. ") This is when we failed

    Thanks
