Central Svr Bandwidth Reqs

Hi All,

I've had a look in the Admin guide and CASO brief pdf, and cant see anything regarding the bandwidth requirements for the Central Svr Option, can someone help me out with this info?

I havent installed yet and was weighing up my options as to whether to run independant media servers at each site, or to manage them all from the Central Admin Server .

The reason I ask is that I have 6 global remote sites and they are connected by fairly crumby VPNs and wondered whether these lines would support Central Admin Server.

Any info please?

    Hi,

     

    Unless you have very good bandwidth between your sites, I'd go with a CASO option that simply monitors backups, but doesn't have the ability to create jobs/manage those backup servers centrally.

    I have 29 BE 2010 R3 servers on sites in South Africa, Africa and Asia...centralising management of those servers wouldn't, and didn't work. I keep all  device and media and backup info on the local servers, and replicate the job logs.

    This allows me to view what's happening in my environment at any given time from 1 pane of glass. Centralising everything means that if the CASO dies, your backups die too until you get it working.

    You need fast links to get this working properly...

    It would support it if you use the distributed database option I believe.
