Data backup size is higher than data from source server

Backup exec server: windows 2012
Ram: 16 GB

Client server: windows 2008 R2
Ram: 16 GB

I have two fold on windows server 2008 (client machine) on D drive: folder A and B.
Folder size are:
A: 150GB
B: 1.27GB
After complete a full backup for each folder the data size are:
A: 1.46TB
B: 2.02TB

Backup took 6day before completed the two folder.
What makes full backup data size higher than sources data.

Note: I used deduplication storage backup to disk

  • If the folders on your Sever 2012 are Windows dedup folders, then the files are rehydrated (converted to non-dedup) when they are backed up. This will explain the increase in size.
  • Check to see if the server is using deduplicating volumes or has compression turned on.
