Domino Databases not backed up

I'm having a problem where our backup server refuses to back up nsf files, it just skips over them as if they aren't there. I've setup debug on the Domino agent and have included a portion on the file created

Thanks, James

  • Hello,

When the job skips the nsf files, does it fail or succeeds? If it fails, what is the error message that you receive in the job log? Is the Lotus server a remote server? What is the v ersion of Lotus? Is it a partitoned server?

Refer to the following technotes which might help in resoving the problem:

Title:When trying to backup Lotus/Domino Databases the job fails with the following error message: "Unable to open the item \lotus\domino\FILE.NSF - skipped. Cannot write or create file (file or disk is read-only)."
    http://support.veritas.com/docs/249688

Title: Backup Exec 9.x backup operation fails because of skipped files when backing up Lotus databases using the Lotus Domino Agent.
    http://support.veritas.com/docs/260354

Title: When using the Backup Exec for Windows NT and Windows 2000 Lotus Notes R5/R6 Agent, "*.nsf and *.ntf" files are reported as skipped during a backup operation
    http://support.veritas.com/docs/241916

If the problem persists, revert with details to the above questions.

Note : If we do not receive your reply within two business days, this post would be marked ‘assumed answered’ and would be moved to ‘answered questions’ pool.

    Regards.
  • Sorry for the delay replying, I've been away the last few days.

The backup job reports as being succesful, its as if it doesn't see the files.

Its a local Notes serrver running 5.0.11

    Cheers, James
  • As per our previous reply, marking the case as "assumed answered" and moving it to "answered questions" pool.
  • My question was answered but not by the posts here.

The problem i was experiencing required the following registry key to be changed

HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Veritas\Backup Exec\Engine\Domino\Offlinefiles change to 1 god knows why but it works!
