Encrypt directory backup failed with error "The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed"

By default, the Backup Exec Remote Agent service is running as the local system account. When a 3rd party utility is used to encrypt a volume or folder only certain accounts will have rights to access that data.  It is not likely that the local system account will have sufficient privileges to access the encrypted data.  To give the Remote Agent sufficient privileges to access the encrypted folder or volume the Remote Agent service account will most likely need to be changed to an administrator account.  Only the Remote Agent service on the media server would need to be changed.

If you would read the document carefully, it talking about backing up to and restoring from an encrypted volume. The user wants to backup an encrypted directory which is a vastly different thing. The document does not apply.

Yes PKh you are right.

In my case backup exec is able to take backup of other directory but only 1 directory is encrypted and due to this backup job is getting failed.

So do i need to decrypt that particular directory, if i want to take backup through Backup exec?

 

 

 

Yes you need to decrypt it BEFORE the backup
