Encryption and Compression

We have recently purchased a HPE MSL3040 tape Library with LTO7 Tape Drives.  We use Backup Exec 20.1 (Rev 1200).

We encryprt our data and compress it for backups.  Until now we have used Software for both, but I have been advised to use Software for Encryption and Hardware for Compression.  

Is this correct and recommeded?

    Ok disregard this.  Seen on a page on Vox that says never mix them.  so will continue with software for now.

      You should use both hardware encryption and compression. This will speed up your backups
