Exchange Recovery Points failes after upgrading to 12.5

Hi 

 

Upgraded to 12.5 (regret it now) last week and I keep getting errors when running Exchange Recovery Points. The Full backup works OK. (This worked OK with 11D and 12)

It should also be said that I can do a restore from that recovery point. Even tho this error comes up. Problem is also that no more recovery points are takend after this error. Hopefully I’m just missing something after upgrading…

 

The info/error is as follow:

Windows 2003 Server R2 x64 SP2
Exchange 2007 SP1
BackupExec 12.5 fully patched as of 2008-12-01

Job is a backup to disk, Local NTFS 5TB RAID 5, on a HP ProLiant DL320s G1

 

Error category    : Backup Media Errors
Error             : e00084d4 - End of data set was unexpectedly encountered.

    Hi and thanks for the message!

    However that is already installed, like I said its been working before upgrading to BE-CPS-12.5.

    I also tried reinstalling the CDO but problem remains.

     

    Please, keep the pointers coming!

    Hi again

     

    FYI, We have three Exchange servers now with the same error.

    Full backup goes OK, then the recoverypoints failes.

    Yes its a all new folder. Running a new job now after reinstalling CDO.

    I will get back when its done.

    Sorry to say the problem remains... Reinstalled CDO, new backup-folder, new backup-job...

    Any more ideas?

    Hello,

     

    I'm having the same problem with the exact same unexpected end of data set errors on recovery points except with exchange 2003 backups. I have 2 exchange servers and backups for both started doing this at the same time. The full backup works fine with no errors, and I can even run a verify on one of the "failed" recovery points and it will return successful. Any suggestions would be welcome.

     

    I've tried:

    Deleting and recreating the backup jobs

    Deleting and recreating the disk 2 disk folders

    Deleting and reinstalling the CPS clients on the exchange servers

    Deleting and reinstalling CPS on the backup server

    All of the above at once

    Hi, sorry to hear that...

     

    Well I have a case at Symantec now, Case 281-474-819, logged December 5th... but no luck.

    First they tried upgrading .NET on the backup server, that didn't work, got rid of some crashing bengine.exe problems tho. Now its escalated to Advanced Engineer at Symantec. Nor reply since December 9th.

    I get back here when more information is at hand.
