Exchange restore individual mailbox

Hello,

I'm using Backup Exec 2010 and Exchange 2007.

I want to restore an individual mailbox and extract it to a pst file. I've created a recovery storage group on my exchange server. When I prepare the restore with Backup Exec I choose to redirect to the RSG but the mails are restored in the production mailbox anyways.

So my question is. If possible what is the recommended way to restore an individual mailbox already existing in production but without mixing the restore with the production mailbox. Or is redirection to RSG only usable when I restore a database backup without GRT.

Thanks!

  • In the Redirect restore option where it ask for Name of the destination mailbox, try to put the Alias name of the RIV user.....

Else try to enter the MAILBOX name as seen in the Exchange Management console.

    Thanks,

  • Just wanted to confirm if you have created and activated the RIV mailbox here. So before performing the restore you need to create a mailbox for the user RIV and also activate that mailbox by sending and receiving atleast 1 email from that mailbox.
