Exchange restores

Hi everyone

I have a really simple problem which i can't seem to fathum out!

Our daily full backups have been working fine and the other day i was able to select either the information store or individual mailbox items. However today all i get is the below picture, basically no option to select any Exchange items.

I've done an re-inventory of the backup drive, restarted all services, but to no avail

Can anyone suggest what i'm doing wrong, this is really odd!

Thanks

Simon

Try creating a test mailbox, verify that youre able to send and receive mail to and from it. Then create a redirected restore for the items that your are attempting to restore and redirect them to the newly created mailbox. If successful you can attempt to do a "redirected" restore to the origional location.

Addtionally you can try running the origional restore job with Debugging enable on both the media and exchange servers and post the job and sgmon logs for review

  • It sounds like you are running the restore from disk. Is this correct?

Were you able to push out the remote agent to the Exchange 2003 server after the recent update?

  • Hi

    Donald

The issue i'm having is that i am unable to restore individual items to mailboxes. I receive an email saying 'Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Servers has restored one or more items to your mailbox. After verifying that all requested items have been restored, you can delete this message. For more information, contact your system administrator and refer to the job history for job'. However the e-mail doesn't appear in the inbox which is where it should be. The job completes successfully and gives no indication that there is a problem. I can successfully restore individual items to an Exchange 2007 server from the same Veritas media server

Yes i can successfully push the updates to the server and yes it is a restore from a disk

I just cannot see why it is not working, but it is pointless backing items up if you can't restore them!

    Thanks

  • Thanks for all your replies. I have made a little progress and feel i'm not far away I restored an e-mail from my mailbox to the inbox of the service account for Backup Exec absolutely fine, but just cannot restore back to the orignal location. The permissions on my inbox for the Backup Exec service account are full permissions and the option to "overwrite any messages......" was selected when i tried to restore back to my inbox and the job completed with no errors or exceptions. I will continue testing tomorrow and provide you with any more updates
  • Ok so i tried this today and it worked! WTF

I haven't made any changes or done anything different but the mail item appeared back into my inbox as it should do

Thanks for all your help everyone
