Exchange Server Backup Fail

Environment:

WinServer 2003 + Backup Exec 12.5, WinServer 2008 + Exchange 2007

We' ve get the below error from last week, the backup job almost success (Backup & verify completed) but finally failed.

Already restart the backup services and reboot the exchange server, the job still failed... no any config change recently, any idea here?

Thanks so much!!

  • Did you install the Exchange Tools on the media server?

  • Are you running the backup to disk or tape ? If tape, do ensure the job is set to overwrite media and not append media.

If AOFO is enabled in the backup job, disable it for the Exchange backup resource.

    Have a look @ this KB well - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH61749

  • Hello VJware,

AOFO is disable and the job is backup to disk, the job is success before last week, do not know what's wrong..

  • This error usually occurs due to lack of permissions, though afaik, this should not have an impact on backups/restores as long as the BE account has the necessary permissions.

Lastly, as you mentioned that you run a backup to disk, do ensure the Exchange backup job is set to Overwrite and not Append.
