Final error: 0x10db - The medium is not compatible with the device or media pool(Erase Media)

Hi,

I am getting below error while erasing media via backup exec 15. Can someone please assist?

Final error: 0x10db - The medium is not compatible with the device or media pool.
Final error category: Other Errors

Further to add on this my tape drive supports LTO6 and if I understand correctly it can read/write on LTO5/6 and read LTO4. Now, the tapes that I am trying to erase is LTO4, so could it be the reason that I am getting this error ?

    Yes - you are correct.

    1. An Ultrium drive can read data from a cartridge in its own generation and two prior generations.
    2. An Ultrium drive can write data to a cartridge in its own generation and to a cartridge from the immediate prior generation in the prior generation format.

    So yes yuo will be able to read (eg do a restore) from your LTO4 tapes, but not write to them (eg including doing an erase).
