GRT-backup of MS SQL. Log not truncated
We are using BE 2012 to back up several SQL 2008 servers running on Windows 2008 R2 VM's on Hyper-V. We use Hyper-V GRT Backup to do the backup, incremental every weekday and full every weekend. The BE-Agent is installed on the VM's and the SQL-Agent is licensed on the media-server.
I thought the SQL transaction logs would be truncated in this scenario, but they are not.
In the backup logs I get the V-79-57344-38728 error message, but it does not help me to figure this out.
In the BE 2012 Admin Guide it says: "Note: Backup Exec uses the Microsoft Hyper-V writer during backups of VSS-aware
applications on virtual machines. The Microsoft Hyper-V writer truncates
application logs before data is moved to the storage device. Therefore, the
application logs for the applications on the virtual machines are truncated if you
use Microsoft Hyper-V.
"
So I am wondering:
1. Should the transaction logs be truncated when doing a hyper-v GRT backup or not?
2. If they should, why don't they?
Kind Regards
