having problems install SQL Remote agent

Hi All,

I've had real problems installing the agent. Finding any decent documentation is hard and the admin guide is not great! I installed the SQL Agent option on my media server. Now I'm trying to push it to our SQL server however I get this error:

So I cannot push it across and am now stuck on what to do. 
 
We are running Back exec, 12.5 sp3.

    What are you trying to push to SQL server?

    SQL agent is only installed on Backup Exec server and on the SQL server you only need to install Remote Agent.

    If the SQL server is already running Remote Agent then you are good to go and no need to install anything on SQL server.

    when i push the agent over to the SQL server i get the above error, so i'm guessing its trying to push the agent across?

    where/how can i install the agent?

    Refer to following document for steps on push install of remote agent:

    If push install fails try local install of Remote Agent using:

    i have tried this, but it doesnt seem to push the SQL server (doing it locally)

    and pushing it forces it to error like above

    on my backup list i can only see the backup server its self not my SQL server, im guessing this is because the remote agent is not on the server.

    i did, the agent has installed... 

    SQL Server = 2008 r2

    i just ran live update, updated the server. Pushed the updates and its pushed 14 updates to the sql server (agent).

    I still can't see how to add SQL agent to this. The only SQL DB I can see is the backup server (Microsoft SQL SERVER "BKUPEXEC"), how do I add another one into the option list?

    Hi,

    I looked, we have the 2010 agent. This is what was listed on our order:

     

    SYMC BACKUP EXEC 2010 AGENT                                                                                                                                                             FOR MSFT SQL WIN PER SERVER BN
     
    but our media server is 12.5. I've probably been installing the 12.5 agent, where can I find the 2010 agent? Will the 2010 agent work with 12.5?

    edit:

     

    when i logon to file connect using our ID it takes me to the 2010 13 version, I'm guessing I'm then entitled to upgrade my media server to this?

    ...if you have active support with Symantec, it's simply a question of downloading the trial and contacting their licensing department to get your new license keys. If not, you can still download the trialware, but then need to purchase new licenses.
