how to delete the expire media from tape cartridge

Dear All,

In our production environment we are using the Symantec Backup Exec 2014 we need to delete the differential backup set from tape

cartridge and tape is almost full from different forum discussion provide the solution to enable the option from Backupexec settings

first select the configuration and settings>Backupexec settings.>storage>enable the option >Allow backup exec to delete all expire sets.

but expire option is still disable in differential backup exec set.

kindly provide me the suggestion how to delete it.

  Regards,

  • You cannot selectively delete a tape backup set. You can only overwrite the entire tape which will wipe out all the backup set on the tape. To overwrite a tape, you either wait for the OPP to expire or associate the tape with the scratch media set
  • Tapes are sequential read/write. So overwrite will start from the beginning of the tape.

  • i have a query its overwirte the data from  bottom to top or its replace old one to new one.
