HOW TO: purge job that will backup then delete files older than a year
I knowI have done this in the past on older version of BEXEC using a working set or somehting like that, but I don't seen to be able to get there withversion 12. Seraching for purge only gets a million hits on log files not being deleted etc.
Is this still possible in verson 12?
thanks in advance.

Those directions are soooo bad and flat out wrong. They will not accomplish what I want, which is to backup old data and then have it deleted.
The Admin Guide step-by-step directions say:
To archive data
1 On the navigation bar, click the arrow next to Backup.
2 Click New Backup Job.
3 Select the data that you want to archive.
4 Click General.
5 In the Backup method for files field, select Working Set - Back up files - Last accessed in(x) days.
6 In the Files accessed in x days field, enter the number of days to use as the criteriafor selecting the files.
7 Complete the backup job options (see “Creating a backup job by setting jobproperties” on page 267.)
This will actually back up data modified in the last X days, when i want data NOT touched in the last X days. AND I don't think anything would be deleted either.
The directions should say :
To archive data1 On the navigation bar, click the arrow next to Backup.2 Select New Backup Job.3 Select the data to be archived.4 Click the Include/Exclude button and check the Files not accessed in X days and enter the number of days for your selection. Be sure the Include radio button is picked for Type. Click OK5 Click General.6 In the Backup method for files field, select Full-Archive the files (delete files after successful copy)7 Complete the backup job optionsLet me know if this doesn't appear correct to you Ken. I did get pointed in the right direction thanks to your post so I appreciate that. Hoepfully someone else can benefit from these directions and perhaps Symantec will correct their Admin guide.
